Region Drama

Friday our Drama team went down to Blanding for Region Drama. We had several people doing pantomimes, short plays, monologues, etc. Jed and I did a pantomime entitled "River Trip". I was really surprised, we got the highest rating on all three times we presented it (called superiors)! It was fun, and there was a lot of talent.

Weird urinals in the bathrooms there, just thought I'd post that. :P

And Zack Taylor's pantomime was hilarious:

Moab Half Marathon and 5 Mile Race

Last Saturday I ran the Canyonlands 5 mile Race! It was awesome, I PRed at 40:24, and I was the 76th finisher. We had some friends come to Moab and run the Half Marathon also. Afterwards I had to volunteer because I am on the track team, and before the race I volunteered too, filling all the race packets for the runners. I was exhausted when we were done, but I had a ton of fun running and hanging out with friends. This is my favorite year so far.

This is about the best picture I have of me running :D (I'm in the blue shorts)

Junior Prom

This last Saturday was Prom! I asked Ivy Hazlett (to see how I asked her, click here). We were planning on hiking Hidden Valley, but it started to thunder/snow storm, so we canceled our plans and met our group at Betty's house to decide what to do from there. When we got there we goofed around, had a snowball fight, ate lots of food and candy, and watched I Am Legend. In the afternoon it cleared up, so we hiked around the hills behind Betty's house in tee shirts. Talk about weird weather fluctuations!

As we were pulling out of the driveway to go home and get ready, Mina backed over three huge rocks! Luckily she didn't hit anything vital, and all the guys were able to dig them out.

For dinner the Hazletts set up a whole dining room in one of their 30ft trailers. It was amazing, there was a couch in one corner, background music, lights strung up, and other awesome decorations.

Zak Hazlett and Joseph Andrew were our waiters. Our first course was salad and bread provided by Braden's mom, the main course was Basmati rice, herbed oven potatoes, and killer lemon-glazed salmon, all made by Nicki Hazlett. For dessert, we had Decadent Chocolate Cake with gourmet ice cream and strawberries on top, made by my mom, Annalee.

After eating, we planned on cruising over to the high school in the trailer, but we started too late for that. So we just drove over there with our dates. As I was escorting my date to the school, I forgot something in my car, so I ran back to grab it. As I made my way back I looked at the ground and saw a pile of red flower petals on the gravel, and I thought, "Oops, somebody lost their flowers!" When I walked up to Ivy she looked at me and started laughing, and I was like, "What?!" She pointed at my boutonniere, or what was left of it. The whole rose was gone! Everybody in our group got a chuckle out of that.

The Prom began with a choreographed dance - called the Promenade - performed by all the juniors in our school. It was amazing! My promenade partner was Caitlyn Howe, on the right in the picture below. She was voted Princess of the Prom. Imagine her surprise to find the girl on the left chose the same dress!

The dance was uneventful. We wrapped up the evening with stargazing at the park. It was a blast!
